This timeline of documents (presented in reverse chronological order) represents the ongoing collective work that has been done thus far related to realizing the vision for the liberal arts and sciences at Michigan State. The ideas and proposals articulated here address changes that could be made to strengthen the intellectual vitality of the university, while at the same time dealing responsibly and realistically with a challenging economic context.

April 30, 2004 - Planning committee members announced.

April 20, 2004 - Update to the University Community on "Vision 2004"

February 17, 2004 - "Realizing the Vision: Liberal Arts and the 21st Century Land Grant University (PDF*)" : Provost Lou Anna K. Simon highlights the basis for change and outlines recommendations that focus on the undergraduate experience, graduate education, degree-oriented living and learning options, and strengthening liberal arts programs through changes in department alignment and college structures.

January 15, 2004 - VISION 2004: Comments on "Summary of Focus Conversations" report: Dr. Simon's comments on the release of the "Summary of Focus Conversations on the Future of the Liberal Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University."
